About me:
Vicky Wolmuth is a qualified, experienced and practising Early Years and Primary school specialist music and piano teacher. She has 20 years’ experience of teaching music in London primary schools, which includes making music with the under-fives. She has also run training courses for Primary school classroom teachers on delivering the music curriculum in schools where there is no specialist music teacher, and currently teaches music part-time in a school in the London Borough of Camden, runs the Children's Music Box, and gives private piano lessons.
The Classes:
All Children’s music Box classes are run and led by Vicky, and are great fun, imaginative, and very stimulating. They give children a wonderful first contact with music-making in a group context.
During the classes, Vicky sings and plays the piano, and the children have the opportunity to listen to and join in with a wide variety of songs.
Each music session is carefully planned: we start with greetings songs, followed by a selection of “action” songs, music and movement around the room, (such as marching, walking, running, jumping, dancing) songs with finger puppets, exploring and playing hand-held percussion instruments, and finishing with a quiet singing time at the end of the session. Various additional “props” are also used at different times, such as bubbles, stretchy lycra songs and activities, glove puppets etc.
All in all, a great first musical experience for your child, and a chance for parents and carers to learn lots of simple songs to sing with the children at home.
There is a Children’s Music Box CD which costs £5, includes many of the songs we sing in the classes, and which you can sing along to at home or on those car journeys!
