The Children’s Music Box classes in Finchley, North London, were established by Vicky Wolmuth in September 2000, and provide fun, stimulating and creative music sessions for pre-school children, with the piano. The classes are for children aged 3 months to 3 years old, and last for 45 minutes per session. They take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Main aims of the classes:
- To communicate an enjoyment of music from a very early age
- To provide a musical experience which is both fun and educational
- To help to develop good listening skills
- To help develop children’s language skills
- To help to develop a sense of rhythm
- To give parents and carers the experience of singing a wide range of songs which they can sing together at home
- To give the children the experience of playing a wide variety of hand-held percussion instruments, thus helping to develop their coordination
- To give the children the opportunity to observe and listen to live instrument playing
